About

My name is Tim Martin. I work as a research assistant in a cognitive neuroscience lab in New York City. Running this blog is one of the things I do in my free time, in addition to a lot of time spent dancing (mostly swing and blues).

Religious obstruction of humane values and accurate knowledge is an issue that comes up often in my posts, whether they be about sex, free speech, or more scientific matters. I was raised Christian (mostly Catholic) but have become an atheist in recent years, and so often is it apparent that religion (and the cognitive biases on which it is based) lead people to believe falsehoods and promote injustices. I want to talk about that.

Some of my other interests include: psychology, evolution, basic human rights, free will, morality, linguistics, and sex.
